GUNSMITHING SERVICES: Detachable bottom metal installation

Description

Our floormetal installation begin with a 3D solid model of the piece being fitted to the stock.  From here, we create the toolpaths to inlet your stock while being conscious of the details for the finish work downstream.  The fitting allowances for a hand-rubbed, oil finished wood stock vs Cerakote/automotive base/clear system are radically different from one another.

These kinds of details are the differences separating a rifle that can be assembled and taken apart without destroying itself during the process.

Note:  While our library of floormetal types is extensive, it is an ever evolving list.  If you do not see your make/model listed, do not be discouraged.  You are in good hands.  We will need your entire rifle however.  The barreled action, stock, and your floormetal.  We’ll model the part and write the inletting program.  From here we test the code using a sample made from a block of cedar fence post.  We use cedar because it machines well and doesn’t split as easily as treated sap wood.  Once the program is vetted, work on your stock begins.  It takes a little longer this way, because its worth it.

• Magazine feed lip to bolt body clearance
• Trap door to stock clearance
• Trap door release lever locked up
• Trap door release lever retention during recoil
• Guard screw-to-receiver thread engagement
• Guard screw head presentation and screw slot timing (when applicable)

 NOTES:

Trigger guard and DBM installations are included with our inlet&Pillar Bedding and Surface Machined Inlet services.  

We are able to install a DBM on Most aluminum chassis block style composite stocks as well.  Manners, H/S, and Bell&Carlson are no problem.  

They do however have limitations.  The once popular Surgeon DBM has a wider footprint that is not compatible with these kinds of stocks.  For these reasons we only install Surgeon DBM’s in conventional wood or composite rifle stocks.
