Winchester and the F/N SPR:

Our M70 style DBM also leans toward the classic appearance this rifle has enjoyed since its conception in 1935.   The design creates a unique challenge to solve because the magazine box location is significantly forward of the trigger guard.   Other designs add material in front of it to make up for the gap.  While it does work, we believe the cosmetic appeal of the gun dies with it.

Our solution uses a unique release/retention linkage to preserve the Obendorf-style latch, maintaining the classic American Sporting Rifle appearance.

Manufacturing:

Our floor metals begin life as an almost 3lb piece of 6061 T651 AL bar stock.  When finished, they weigh between 3.5 and 4.5 ounces.  They are made on 5-axis milling centers.  The advantage five-axis offers is the ability to consolidate the number of times it has to move from one vise to another.  Doing so greatly reduces the problems created from tolerance stacking from a part made from multiple setups.  The end goal is a cleaner appearance and trouble-free installation.

LRI DBMs are available in two finishes; As Machined or your choice of Cerakote.  We are a gunsmithing company at heart.  Full builds, the full gamut of gunsmithing services, and restocking barreled actions are a daily routine here.  Because one color does not fit for all, our floormetals are left “in the white” when put into inventory.  Our coating department runs a full schedule with the resources to efficiently process individual jobs.  It allows us to suit your taste in a timely manner.  Our stock department is also available for “piece work” type jobs and happy to help with installation needs as well.

We also appreciate there are gunsmiths who want to take ownership of their work.  YOU are not forgotten!  One of the greatest frustrations in this trade is the lack of product support from manufacturers.   2D outline drawings, void of any dimensioning, are not worth the paper they are printed on.  Spending hours reverse engineering a 3rd party product is an absurdly expensive effort requiring capital-intensive, front-end investments in metrology and inspection.
