LongRifles, Inc is owned and operated by Chad Dixon. Chad’s introduction to firearms began in 1991 as a marksmanship instructor and competitive shooter in the United States Marine Corps.

Chad began building rifles in 2000 at the Anschutz National Service Center in Colorado Springs. While there he worked closely with National Team athletes from the US Olympic Training Center and some of the most prestigious names in competitive shooting. In 2003 he relocated to South Dakota after accepting a management position with Nesika Bay Precision and Dakota Arms, Inc.

Chad left Nesika in 2006 to further broaden his experience when he deployed to the Middle East as a security contractor for the US Department of State, Bureau of Diplomatic Security in Baghdad, Iraq. Three years in the Middle East provides a first person perspective of how small arms perform in the high threat environment.

Career highlights includes rifles that have won Olympic, World, International, and National level competitions in International Smallbore, Smallbore Silhouette, Prone, Highpower, and International Long Range (Palma). He has also worked on development of long range tactical rifles for domestic and foreign agencies against the war on terror.

More than a business.

This is a lifestyle.

Garrett Caldwell is a formally educated gunmaker and former employee of Nesika Bay Precision. With almost ten years experience in custom bolt action rifle building, his work experience is almost exclusive to the use of high end CNC manufacturing equipment. Career highlights include the Dakota Arms Scimitar Sniper Rifle development for the Royal Jordanian military, as well as, high performance large caliber semi auto sniper rifles developed for agencies abroad against the war on terror. He's also built presentation rifles for US heads of state, and played vital roles in the development of new products still in production today at Nesika Bay Precision and Dakota Arms, Inc.

Garrett's attention to detail, commitment to quality, and common sense approach to gunmaking makes him a tremendous asset in our efforts to deliver rifles that distinguish themselves wherever they are taken.

Wer'e lucky to have him on our staff.

Our facilities are located in South Dakota and contain all the equipment to make your customizations possible!

Competitive shooting is how I began this trade over 20 years ago.  When I started building rifles it was instilled in me that juniors are the key to competitive shooting’s survival and growth.

Our experience in competitive shooting is well documented with multiple marquee event wins in a broad variety of disciplines.  It’s a cornerstone of our business and we take great pride in it.  Throughout the season we accept shooting resumes from junior competitors who have demonstrated their commitment to excel in competition.  Once a year we review these candidates and select one individual as a recipient for sponsorship.

The winning applicant will receive a target rifle built to suit the discipline they compete in and our full support.

Events we currently support:

  • International Fullbore/Palma
  • NRA Highpower Match Rifle

Presently we sponsor Kyle Leibertrau.  Kyle is from Lodi Wisconsin and works for Brux Custom Rifle Barrels.  His dedication and commitment to long range competition reflects in his list of accomplishments.  We are very proud to support Kyle’s shooting and wish him continued success.

 His shooting resume includes:

  • 2 time Wisconsin State Junior Long Range Champion
  • 2 time Wisconsin 4 man Team Long Range Champion
  • 2006 US Long Range Junior National Champion.
  • 2007 “Young Eagles” under 21Long Range National Team Coach
  • 2007 Under 21 Long Range High shooter, Team event
  • 2009 DCRA (Canadian) Team Match winner
